Literally a larger than life character David was an exceptionally talented musician if at time somewhat eccentric in his nature. He did me the great kindness of playing at one of my Installations into a Lodge Chair and I was delighted to recently see him returning to the fold in Rose Croix as a member of Richard Gill Chapter. RIP David

A wonderful organist and musical improvisor with a great sense of fun. Always made me jealous of his talent. Sad he did not progress as he ought in Freemasonry as he would have been a memorable and controversial Grand Organist! Will be missed as a huge character in a sometimes too formal world of Freemasonry.

Thank you David for standing in as our guest organist for our installation at Probity 61 last January. Also as a very recently joined member of Richard Gill Chapter Rose Croix 202, we are all saddened by your loss.

David was a superb organist and pianist. He delighted the members and guests of lodges in Sheffield on so many occasions as well as accompanying the Sheffield and District Masonic Choir in many of their presentations throughout the Province. David was a very likeable and amiable man who was always so generous with his time and willing to help others. He will be greatly missed.

David was my colleague at the NSCD, where his extraordinary abilities in improvisation were quickly recognized. He amused himself by playing dance exercises in every key in turn, in the style of any composer. It was my privilege to propose him as a member of Headingley Lodge, and then St Chad Mark Lodge, a degree which he particularly enjoyed. A big man in every way; generous and kind-hearted. His infectious good humour may be particularly illustrated by his playing at the funeral of a butcher, "Sheep may safely graze". Rest in peace, my old friend.

Rest in peace David. What a shame, what a laugh and what a talent! Acting Officers together - I will never forget the good times we shared.
