Picture by Rae Graham shows RW Bro Newman and W Bro Silvester Earnshaw PPJGW There was a unique triple celebration for W Bro. Silvester Earnshaw at Lodge of Prince George 308 on Saturday, 18 June.
Remarkably, it was Silvester’s 100th birthday and the Provincial Grand Master, R W Bro James H Newman, was delighted to present him with a much coveted 60-year Craft jubilee certificate. The icing on the cake for Silvester came when a packed Bottoms Lodge Room at Todmorden burst into rapturous applause when R W Bro Newman promoted Silvester from Past Provincial Deputy Grand Sword Bearer to PP Junior Grand Warden. Silvester, a retired funeral director in Hebden Bridge, now lives at Thornton Cleveleys and his son Paul regularly transports him to Bottoms for Prince George meetings where he can still deliver ritual if called upon. • Life and times of Silvester in the next issue of White Rose Masonic News.
